Innovation Platform: ideas develop together

Why are platforms the basis for innovation? Because there is so much we can draw from a collective and shared "wisdom".

Innovation platforms help bring together different stakeholders to identify solutions for common objectives.

Today’s innovation involves an increasing number of companies and organizations that believe in new technologies as tools for growth; among these, the innovation platform has become popular.

An innovation platform can take on different forms but what they have in common is a series of useful tools to create, evolve and above all to accomplish ideas.

Why are platforms the basis for innovation? Because there is so much we can

draw from a collective and shared “wisdom”. In fact, today there are no more innovators or creators, but rather co-innovators and co-creators: clients and entire communities contribute to the birth, development and evolution of an idea.

There are platforms that specialise in community innovation or crowd activation; others focus on

on the tracking of innovation programs or on the management of activities ranging from hackathons to crowdsourcing, to design competition. There are platforms for defining strategies, advising the tools needed to develop cutting-edge ideas, helping companies with a different perspective, and they are all functionalities made available to increase business potential.

Innovation platforms help bring together different stakeholders to identify solutions to common problems or to achieve common goals.

They ensure that different interests are considered and different groups are involved in finding solutions.

These platforms also represent an important space for change and learning about the individual user as well as the group.

But how do innovation platforms work? First of all, there is the initial phase where organisations or stakeholders identify the areas of interest on which the platform will be based.

In the second phase, members focus on areas of interest in order to analyse problems and opportunities. Next, they study how to solve the problems examined or take advantage of opportunities.

There may be many options to choose from. The solutions that emerge are then finished and the actual validity tested. As stated above, there are different types of innovation platforms that can facilitate us in a wide range of activities aimed at achieving the objectives we have set ourselves. However it is not certain that they always live up to our expectations; in this case, the question could be seen from a different angle. First of all, we need to clarify the objectives that we have set ourselves. To have them clear.

Once this is done, we can focus on the real usefulness of the innovation platform for the set objectives. It is good to consider that more platforms may be needed for a wider and diverse range of activities.

In conclusion, making innovation today is the result of shared work in the creation and implementation of ideas that bring truly quantifiable benefits. In a sense, the innovation platforms, with their tools that facilitate combining different realities, disciplines and activities are increasingly proving to be an indispensable tool.
